After losing her son Jonathan and her neighbor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s daughter Addison Shepherd, known as Addi, in a Rusk County crash, Karen Holland decided to give back to the community that helped her.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re really trying hard to turn a tragedy into triumph,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Karen said.<\/p>\n<p>In memory of Jonathan and Addi, their families set up foundations that will receive the money earned by the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Fat Boy foundation helps kids go to trade schools through scholarships, Addi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s family has created Addi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Adventures, Addi was autistic, and they help special needs families and special needs teachers,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Karen said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcA perfect shot\u00e2\u20ac\u2122: East Texas bowfisher breaks Texas State koi carp record<br \/>\nKaren and Addi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mother Christy shepherd couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t believe how much support they have received.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s no words, no words, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re so grateful and so appreciative of everybody,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Addison Shepherd\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mother Christy Shepherd said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s very overwhelming to see how much love and support we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve gotten from our community, from all around,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Holland said.<\/p>\n<p>They added that they hope their children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s memories can live on through the work the foundations are doing for others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAKE TYLER \u00e2\u20ac\u201c The Jonathan Holland and Addison Shepherd Memorial Bass Tournament took off at the Boulders at Lake Tyler on Saturday according to our news partners at KETK. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We had 39 boats that registered for the tournament,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jonathan Holland\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mother Karen Holland said.
