TxDOT encourages pedestrians to use sidewalks, crosswalks, and be cautious of their surroundings. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve seen over the past few years throughout the state that fatalities throughout the state have risen,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Williford. Suggesting whenever people are out and about, whether that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s in neighborhoods or along busy highways, make sure they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re visible to drivers. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Make sure again, that you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re staying on sidewalks, if there is not a sidewalk available to walk on, we encourage to walk on the left side of the road,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Williford.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Out in the country where a lot more bicyclists, kids, and families are out for walks, things like that,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Williford. TxDOT is working on and planning roadway projects throughout East Texas. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s eight counties that the Tyler District encompasses, a lot of those projects are to improve pedestrian safety,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Williford. If walking, running, or biking while it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s dark outside, wear reflective gear or get a headlight.
