Calhoun adds that the university is honored by the recognition and that he applauds the campus community for &#8220;working together to make the best of the situation we have been facing.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  <!--more-->    <\/p>\n<p>The university merged with UT Health Science Center at Tyler in January, which officials say enhanced collaboration of faculty and staff to meet the needs of students and patients and assist community-based organizations.  The university worked with local organizations such as the Northeast Texas Public Health District to provide additional expertise and manpower for COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, according to a news release.
