In April of 1969, competing in a rodeo as a sophomore bull rider for Henderson County Junior College, he was killed in a tragic accident. In a ceremony, Monday, TVCC President Jerry King announced an endowed scholarship in McGee’s name had been established. The scholarship comes about after McGee’s brother Kenneth and wife Reba made a generous donation. Kenneth is a former member of the college’s board of trustees. King said the annual scholarship would be available for two bull riders on the college’s rodeo team, which the coach will determine.
