Body of 21 year old Tyler man found near Toll 49

TYLER — The body of Corbin Stiefer, 21, of Tyler, was discovered by Tyler police Wednesday. Andy Erbaugh told KTBB, “We restarted what we would call a perimeter search where his vehicle was found in all the wooded areas around all the open areas…We were all beginning to come up the East side of 49 which is a very open area when he was found.” Stiefer was found just before 11 a.m.

He had been missing for a week. Stiefer’s car was found Tuesday at County Road 1150 and Loop 49 near a wooded area. The search, involving TPD and Smith County Sheriff’s Department, was suspended for the evening due to nightfall. Stiefer’s body was found in a ditch, a few hundred yards from his car, near Toll 49. As of this writing, Erbaugh said that there is no sign of foul play. Stiefer’s body has been sent off for an autopsy.
