TYLER — The ABA has announced that Tyler Municipal Rose Garden and Tyler Botanical Garden have been designated as one of 2020’s Best of the Best. On Tuesday, Visit Tyler’s Holli Conley told KTBB, “This is going to give us exposure all over the nation with the American Bus Association. Which, is the largest bus association in the United States. With this, we are going to get a lot of free publicity for the Rose Garden and for Tyler in general. So that people know we are here, and we are open and they can come and visit us.”
The tourism industry in Tyler has been hit hard during the pandemic. However, Conley continued, “When people could get out and start traveling again. Tyler was very appealing because we have all the open space. We have the Rose Garden, and Tyler State Park, and lots of open space…So getting an award like this that features one of those attractions, this gives us exposure all over the nation. We are being recognized as one of the best tourist attractions in the United States. And that is exposure that we just couldn’t get any other way, than winning this award.”
According to studies, one overnight visit by a motorcoach group can leave from $5,000 to more than $11,000 in a local destination’s economy. Those dollars are spent on lodging, meals, admissions, fees, shopping, souvenirs, services, and local taxes. As part of the honor, Tyler will be featured in the November/December issue of ABA’s Destinations magazine.
