Smith County makes changes to meetings and COVID-19 update info

TYLER — Smith County Judge Nathaniel Moran has announced those wishing to make a public comment will no longer be able to do so over the phone. According to a press brief from the county on Wednesday, phone in comments had been allowed to the court over the last several months because of COVID-19. Online public participation forms may still be filled out online at https://www.smith-county.com/government/elected-officials/public-participation-form before the meeting, but the speaker must attend the meeting in-person. Limited seating for social distancing is available for meetings in the courtroom on the first floor of the Smith County Annex Building, on E. Ferguson.
Smith County Commissioners Court meetings will still be livestreamed at https://www.smith-county.com/government/elected-officials/commissioners-court/commissioners-court-live-stream and https://www.facebook.com/SmithCountyTexas. Beginning Thursday, Smith County will no longer post daily NET Health COVID-19 updates on its website and social media pages. Those reports can been seen directly at https://www.nethealthcovid19.org/. The red emergency banner at the top of the http://www.smith-county.com homepage titled “Up-To-Date COVID-19 Information.†The page, which includes all of the latest Smith County COVID-19 information, will still be active and can be found under the Fire Marshal’s page, at https://www.smith-county.com/government/departments/corona-virus-information.
