TYLER — The East Texas Food Bank and Tyler Independent School District launches the 30th Annual Pantry Raid on Friday. On Thursday Lauren Barnes told KTBB, “Final amount totals raised will be announced at the Tyler Legacy and Tyler High home football game on October 2.” The event has historically been a competition between Tyler Legacy High School and Tyler High School to raise the most amount of food and funds each year. This year, the schools are joining forces to celebrate the three decade anniversary of the District-wide Pantry Raid. Barnes continued, “There’s actually enough hungry children in high school that we could fill Christus Trinity Mother Francis stadium 8 and a half times. This years goal is to to raise 300,000 meals for the 30th Anniversary, which equates to $37,500.” Funds raised will support ETFB’s child hunger programs that serve Tyler ISD students, such as the BackPack Program and Kids Café.
