WASHINGTON D.C. — Congressman Louie Gohmert spoke on the House Floor regarding H.R. 51 – Washington, DC Admission Act Friday morning, a bill spearheaded by House Democrats. “It’s amazing to hear people that have been trained in the Constitution disregard it so, but we’re taught at law school the ability to rationalize absolutely anything.†The District One Congressman then told KTBB, “It’s so disingenious they know it’s unconstitutional, but they stand up and argue these things anyway. And not one of them has every been willing to co-sponsor my bill to stop the unfair federal income tax, to the citizens of D.C. That is what should be done, it is so outrageous what they are doing.”
Gohmert went on to say, “One of the things that we agree on is that it is wrong to make people, the residents of the District of Columbia, pay income tax. I’ve been filing a bill since 2008, I think it was, that would eliminate the federal tax. None of the territories, who also don’t have full voting members of Congress, pay federal income tax. D.C. shouldn’t either. That’s a legislative fix we can do.†You can see Friday mornings address by clicking the Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIO-vlRRoDY&feature=youtu.be.
