TYLER — The Tyler Senior Center has closed a second time due to COVID-19. Adriana Rodriguez told KTBB why the center did not open on Thursday. “Monday when we reopened, we found out that the cases in Tyler and Smith County were just going up rapidly. The numbers were just to shocking for us to not do anything. So we decided yesterday afternoon that we would close the Senior Center until further notice.”

Rodriguez said among many things, “The Center provides lunches for seniors, so we will not be having those at the center, but seniors can go and pick them up. They are located on 3001 Robertson Rd. We have also provided a mental health support line, it’s a toll free number. It’s for anyone experiencing, stress, anxiety or emotional challenges. Not only seniors, but we know that the Senior Center is a place for them to socialize. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission number is (833) 986-1919. If you need to reach the Meals on Wheels organization that number is 903-593-7385.
