LONGVIEW — Longview Head Coach/Athletic Director and President of Texas High School Coaches Association John King spoke with KTBB on positive COVID-19 testing during summer workouts and how schools are reacting. “It’s a situation where they have a kid maybe out of a hundred or two hundred kids that’s sick and has been around people and they do what they needed to do.” King continued, “I feel for them, we meet everyday to make sure we are taking the proper safety precautions, disinfecting, make sure kids are hand washing, hand sanitizing, social distancing.”
King went on to say, “It’s not a matter of if, but when. There is going to be road bumps to success. And I have talked to some of the schools that have been shut down. And they have followed every safety precaution, followed every safety procedure that has been mandated by the U.I.L. They followed it to a T and still had some. Everyone I have talked to is doing it, from disinfecting to screening kids, to social distancing, to small groups is doing it all.” Football practices for the upcoming Fall season are scheduled to begin in Texas the first week in August.
