Widely Known Tyler Man Found after Going Missing

TYLER — A prominent Tyler figure has been found and is reported in good condition after going missing Wednesday afternoon. At approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the Tyler Police Department responded to a report of a critical missing person from a residence on Pegues Ave in Tyler. Among other things, Ernest Deckard, 91, was the longtime president of the Tyler NAACP. Police said he’d driven off Wednesday afternoon, and a Silver Alert was requested. Shortly after 3 p.m., police advised that Deckard had been located.
