Trial Date Set for Man Accused of Threatening to Shoot Up a Wal-Mart in Tyler

TYLER — Witnesses have been sworn in, in a hearing on Monday for a Tyler man who is charged with threatening to shoot up a Tyler Wal-Mart. According to our news partner KETK, Trumaine Washington, 31, is requesting a bench trial in front of a judge instead of facing a jury. The incident in question took place days after the El Paso massacre that killed 22. Washington is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Judge Jack Skeen of the 241st District court told witnesses not to speak to any one about their testimony. The trial begins February 24th.
