TYLER — Plans are underway for the 61st Annual Azalea & Spring Flower Trail. Applications to be an Azalea Belle must be completed by Wednesday. ON Monday Susan Travis, with Visit Tyler, told KTBB what makes an ideal candidate, “Girls who are outgoing, and passionate about their city, that know things to do in Tyler, because visitors will be asking questions, and they need to like having their picture made a lot.” Azalea Belles wear antebellum dresses throughout this three-weekend event and are needed to promote Tyler, greet tourists, and pose for photographs. The 2020 season will run in the Downtown Azalea District March 20 – April 5.
The opportunity is open to freshman and sophomore high school girls residing in Smith County who will be available for the event times and enjoy working with people. The girls must be academically eligible and are required to attend certain events and trainings. You can find the application by clicking the link. http://www.visittyler.com/azaleatrail. Visit Tyler will provide the dresses. A typical schedule involves working 3 ½ hours on Saturday mornings or afternoons as well as Sunday afternoons, and there will be at least two Belles at each location.
