A Deputy in East Texas has Died in the Line of Duty

PANOLA COUNTY — Sheriff Kevin Lake says, “Law enforcement agencies were able to capture the suspect who shot and killed Deputy Chris Dickerson around 2 a.m. Tuesday. Sheriff Kevin Lake says multiple Texas Rangers have been processing the crime scene. According to our news partner KETK, the suspect has been identified as Gregory Newson, who was able to leave the scene, but was arrested in Shreveport after crashing his car and being chased on foot. Newson has been charged with capital murder.
