Sheriff: Authorities Bust Human Smuggler

MARSHALL — A purported human smuggler is nabbed in East Texas. Deputies in Harrison County pulled over a small minivan during the weekend, carrying 17 illegal immigrants. Sheriff Tom McCool said the van was bound for Memphis, Tennessee. ICE agents and Homeland Security personnel captured 16 of the van’s 39 occupants, and the deputies transported the driver to the county jail on a charge of smuggling persons.
