Balch Springs Teen Arrested

TYLER — Wednesday afternoon Smith County provided an update on a Balch Springs teen arrested in a recent Smith county incident involving a Homeowner. It began with an apparent attempted vehicle burglary. Kevon Taye McMiller – 17 of Balch Springs was arrested for the offense of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Bond for McMiller was set at $100,000. McMiller was previously treated and released from UT Health East Texas for a gunshot wound he sustained during the incident. This is an ongoing investigation with additional suspects, and more charges anticipated. The Smith County Sheriff’s Office will not be pursuing criminal charges against the homeowner in this case.
