Finalists for the 2019 President’s Awards Program

TYLER — Recently finalists for the 2019 President’s Awards Program were announced in Austin and The East Texas Big Event has been chosen as a finalist for the “Spirit of Downtown” category. For over3 decades the awards program, sponsored by the Texas Downtown Association has recognized outstanding projects, places, and people of Texas downtowns. The East Texas Big Event is a one-day, large-scale service event that impacts multiple organizations within the community.

This event is a partnership between The University of Texas at Tyler, Tyler Junior College, and the City of Tyler. For the 2019 event, they focused on service projects that would be impactful for Downtown Tyler. Service projects included revitalization projects, the Smith County Historical Society, the Liberty Hall Theatre, and more. Winners will be announced on October 30 at the Awards Gala held in conjunction with the 2019 Texas Downtown Conference in Georgetown.
