JACKSONVILLE — Police Chief Andrew Hawkes has issued his resignation to the city of Jacksonville. Hawkes stepped down to accept a position as the next Police Chief in Sunnyvale. According to our news partner KETK, Hawkes has served as Jacksonville Chief since July 2016. Under his command, the department began a bike patrol program, a canine team, and a National Night Out program. City Manager Greg Smith says Hawkes has done a great job and has set the path for continued success for J.P.D. Hawkes was the lone finalist in a national search of 96 applicants.
