TYLER — Brookshire Grocery Company has been fined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration – but the company is contesting the fine. OSHA levied a charge of $26,520 in connection to a death last March in their Tyler warehouse. According to our news partner KETK, Kasper Holland, 22, was killed in an industrial accident on March 16. The fine was for what were termed two “serious†violations by the company. It is unclear what the violations were.
In a statement, Brookshire Grocery Company said they were “deeply saddened”by the incident. Officials add, “The investigation by the Tyler Police found that the employee in question was not following Company policies and procedures.” The statement continues, “We are contesting the two OSHA citations and will provide evidence supporting our request to withdraw or modify the citations.” The OSHA investigation into Holland’s death is still open.
