N.S.F. Grant to Advance Bio Sciences at U.T. Tyler

TYLER — A National Science Foundation grant has been awarded to the University of Texas at Tyler. The three year grant will enable advanced research in biological sciences. The fund of nearly $442,000 allocates monies to develop and examine genetically modified organisms, and how they can potentially enhance biosafety and environmental protection. According to U.T. Tyler assistant professor Dr. Clement Chan, “Biotechnology is one of the fastest growing industrial sectors in Texas.”
