GREGG COUNTY — A former Carthage Junior High School teacher accused of an inappropriate relationship with a student used FaceTime to send a sexually explicit video of herself to that student, according to the Longview News-Journal. Lauren Nolan, 25, of Longview, has been indicted on a charge of improper relationship between educator/student. Nolan resigned from her job as a teacher and coach within Carthage ISD in 2018, with the district saying at the time she had engaged in “inappropriate behavior.†A Panola County grand jury indicted Nolan during their May session.
The Texas Rangers arrested Nolan in October 2018 on the improper relationship charge and two counts of online solicitation of a minor. Nolan was released from the Gregg County Jail on bonds totaling $60,000 a day after her arrest. Nolan had been placed on paid administrative leave in spring 2018 and submitted a resignation effective in summer 2018 at Carthage ISD’s March 2018 school board meeting. Carthage police said at the time they had been investigating Nolan, but the Texas Department of Public Safety had taken over the case.
