Lindale Man’s Murder Trial to Be Moved

Our news partner KETK, quoting court records, says the trial of Dabrett Black, 34, of Lindale, will not be held in Freestone County. Judge Patrick Simmons has granted a request for a change of venue. Where the trial will be moved has not been decided. Black is accused of the shooting death of state trooper Damon Allen on Thanksgiving day in 2017. He was shot while checking a driver license in the front seat of his patrol vehicle on Interstate Highway 45 near Fairfield.
