Tyler Women Honored
Posted/updated on: March 22, 2019 at 2:44 pmTYLER – Six women have been honored in Tyler for their accomplishments in their careers and their public service. They were honored by group called Women in Tyler. It was founded in 1999 to as a way to celebrate Women’s History Month and to honor women who have contributed to the quality of life in the community. A planning committee selects the women who are honored at the yearly banquet, which has as a theme this year, “Women With A Passion.”
The 2019 winners are:
Lela Eaves was honored for her work with advancing special education through diagnostics and volunteering for Bethesda Health Clinic
Darlene Lewis was recognized for ensuring children have nutritious meals in the summer.
The co-founder of the Rose City Trekkers and Girltrek, LaShonda Malrey-Horne, was honored for encouraging black women to keep physically active.
For lending support to pregnant women at the Magdalene home, which she founded, Wendi Rees was honored.
Dalila Reynoso was honored for “advising, educating and advocating†for immigrants in the community with the East Texas branch of Justice for Our Neighbors.
Molly Wyatt was recognized for helping the under-employed gain skills for advancement with the Christian Women’s Job Corp.
