McKellar, Others File for City Council in May Election

TYLER — The District 3 Tyler City Council position will have a new face this May, with current Councilmember Ed Moore stepping down due to term limits. One of three candidates who have filed for the post in the May election is Shirley McKellar, who has run for Congress four times against incumbent Louie Gohmert. McKellar greeted the public at a Saturday news conference “Under the Bridge” on Valentine Street, a well-known gathering place for the homeless. Along with homelessness, she’s focusing on such issues as economic growth in North Tyler, veterans’ concerns, and human trafficking.

Also in the District 3 race are Pamela Phoenix and Dalila Reynoso. District 5 incumbent Bob Westbrook and current District 1 Councilmember Linda Sellers have both filed for re-election, and neither has any announced opposition thus far.
