Property Tax Deadline Approaching
Posted/updated on: January 28, 2019 at 10:27 amTYLER – Smith County residents are reminded that property taxes are due by the end of the month. The deadline is January 31st. The tax office cannot waive penalty or interest rates for late payments. So, if mailing your property tax check, it must be postmarked by January 31. Next Thursday, Smith County Tax Assessor-Collector Gary Barber will even be stationed outside in the parking lot of the Cotton Belt Building on West Front Street to take drive-thru payments. In order to drop off your payments without leaving your car, you are asked provide payment inside an envelope, which has your name and phone number on it in case the Tax Office has questions regarding your payment.
If mailing your payment to the tax office, please address it to the Smith County Tax Office at PO Box 2011, Tyler, Texas, 75710; or the Smith County Tax Office at 1517 W. Front St., Tyler, Texas, 75702.
You can pay your taxes in person at the Cotton Belt Building on West Front Street in Tyler, or at two branch offices: on South Main Street in Lindale; or on Highway 155 South in Noonday. The three offices are open 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
