Man Charged with Assault Family Violence

Conl Shamon Ates, 30, of Tyler, is charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member, assault on a public servant and resisting arrest. He was arrested at a residence on Farm Road 2767, in notheastern Smith County, Thursday night. He had been accused of assaulting a woman. Deputies say he resisted arrest, and two tasers were unsuccessful. They were finally ably to handcuff him, but not before he put one deputy in a headlock. His bonds total $180,000.
