Two Area Lakes Reopened

EAST TEXAS – Two area lakes, that had been closed because of the heavy rain at midweek, have now been reopened. Since conditions have improved, Lake Gladewater was reopened on Friday. Saturday morning, Lake Cherokee was reopened. The lake manager for Lake Cherokee, Erin Summerlin said on their Facebook page, “be very cautious. As is normal to our lake, debris from the feeder creeks along with unsecured items from piers and boathouses have been pushed into the water which creates a hazard to navigation. There are also many stumps just below the water’s surface.”
