Survey Shows Tyler is Great But Not Perfect
Posted/updated on: December 13, 2018 at 4:31 pmTYLER – The city council on Wednesday received a presentation on the results of a resident survey about Tyler. The survey shows most respondents have a positive perception of the city. Over 80% of those surveyed indicated that Tyler is a good place to live, raise children and retire. The survey was conducted during the summer by the ETC Institute. The six-page survey was originally mailed to a random sample of households in the city. A total of 406 residents completed the survey.
City services that had the highest levels of satisfaction were public safety services, garbage collection services, airport quality and the quality of parks and recreation programs and facilities. Respondents were least satisfied with the effectiveness of traffic and congestion management in the city and the maintenance of city streets and facilities. These were also the two services residents think should receive the most emphasis from city leadership over the next three years.
This survey will help the city prioritize action items that will make the most impact on citizen satisfaction as part of the upcoming update the City’s Tyler 1st comprehensive master plan. The comprehensive planning process will begin early next year.
