Suspect Arrested with Drone Assistance

WINONA – A man who fled authorities in Smith County has been arrested. The man fled a state trooper on Highway 155 in Winona just after midnight Friday morning. The officer had stopped the vehicle, which was suspected of being stolen. After a drone pilot found the suspect in a wooded area, he was arrested a short time later with the help of the drone, which was equipped with an infrared camera. Arrested was Justin Alan Meador, 27, of Tyler. He is now in the Smith County Jail on charges of criminal mischief, theft, evading arrest, possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of a controlled substance in a detention facility.
