Phone Scams Abound

TYLER – Tyler police have issued a warning about an increasing number of phone scams. The callers are very convincing. They may may identify themselves as a police or sheriff’s department and ask for payment for a bond for a family member. They say the bond can be paid by way of a gift card. No business or government agency will require payment using gift cards, iTunes cards or shopping cards for any reason. They remind you, never release financial or personal identification information over the phone. Hang up the phone and report the call to your local law enforcement agency.
