WASHINGTON – Senator John Cornyn has announced Tyler Pounds Regional Airport has been awarded an $11.5 million federal grant. The funding comes through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program. Airport manager Davis Dickson says the funds will be used in conjunction with the Runway 4-22 Rehabilitation Project. The money will go toward construction of a taxiway parallel to the runway and for a new instrument landing system for the runway. Dixon says they hope to award contracts for the two projects in the next couple of months.
