A Former Laundry Becomes a Historic Landmark

TYLER – There is a new historic landmark for Tyler. The Tyler Historic Preservation Board has designated Smith County’s Crescent Laundry Building as a Tyler Historic Landmark. The laundry started in 1923 on East Erwin Street. It moved to East Ferguson four years later. The business was the first and largest dry cleaning company in Smith County and continued in operation until 2000. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. It currently houses Smith County’s Facility Services Department.
