A Long Prison Term for a DWI Conviction

LONGVIEW – A Longview man will have a long time to think about his 7th DWI conviction. After Fred Elton Alexander, 72, was found guilty of DWI, a Gregg County jury sentenced him to 99 years in prison. While on parole last September, Alexander was arrested at the Tree House Apartments on Avalon Street. According to the police report, he claimed the public handicap parking spot was his, cursed at the person parked there and threatened to slash the person’s tires if the vehicle wasn’t moved. He then backed into a fence. When arrested, his alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
