AUSTIN – Area unemployment has fallen slightly. The May unemployment report shows a slight drop in unemployment in Tyler and Longview. And it’s better than the state number. The Texas Workforce Commission reports Tyler’s unemployment rate for May was 3.5%. It was 3.7% in April and 3.8% a year ago. The Longview unemployment rate last month was 4%. It was 4.1% in April and 5% last year. Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.1% in May, unchanged from April’s figure.
