New Habitat for Humanity Housing DevelopmentTYLER — Habitat for Humanity of Smith County announces the start of a new north side housing development in Tyler. Six homes will make up the new neighborhood on N. Tenneha and W. 25th Street. This is the fifth development Habitat has built on the north side in the past ten years. Walls on the first home will be raised on Saturday, June 23, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Funds to build the first two houses in the development were provided by Lin and Sandra Barker, an anonymous donor, and the Junior League of Tyler. The future homeowners will help build their own homes and other homes in the housing development to fulfill their “sweat equity” requirement, then purchase their homes from Habitat with a 30-year mortgage.
