Wood County Woman Guilty of EmbezzlementTYLER – A Hawkins woman has pleaded guilty in Tyler federal court to embezzling $1.8 million from California companies. Lina Su, also known as Lina Perkins, pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud and one count of money laundering Thursday in an appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge K. Nicole Mitchell. Prosecutors say she used the money to make personal credit card payments, purchase land for herself, and pay contractors constructing her home in Wood County. Under federal statutes, she faces up to life in federal prison. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.
