Son Charged in Dad’s Death

TYLER – A Tyler man has been charged in the death of his father. Jody Colston, 58, had been struck by a car driven by his son, Aaron Colston, 31. The father was found in a wooded area off East Gentry Parkway after 2:15 Saturday afternoon. The father was taken to a Tyler hospital where he died. The son told officers that he was backing a vehicle and was unaware that his father was behind it when he ran over him. After investigating officers smelled alcohol at the scene, the son was placed under arrest for criminally negligent homicide and booked into the Smith County Jail.
