Longview ISD Releases Statement on Employee’s ArrestLONGVIEW – A textbook clerk at Longview High School has been charged with sexual assault of a child. Booked into the Gregg County Jail on Friday was Richard Leland Williams, 25, of Longview. His bond was set at $100,000. The police department was contacted about the case on Thursday. Their investigation led to Williams’ arrest the following day.

On Saturday the school district released the following statement:

Williams, a textbook clerk at the high school, was hired by Longview ISD in August 2017. “Longview ISD takes allegations of this nature very seriously, and will always take swift action to protect the safety of our students,” said Dennis Williams, Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Services. “We are confident in our partners at the Longview Police Department. We know the family is in good hands, and that the matter will be handled with the utmost care and concern for the student’s well-being,” he added.

This makes the second Longview school employee to be arrested over the past couple of months. As KTBB reported in March, a former Spring Hill coach and teacher admitted to administrators he had an improper relationship with a student. That information is contained in a warrant that led to the arrest of Jacob Vincent Badgett, 25, of Longview. He is currently free on a $50,000 bond. He resigned the day before his arrest.
