A Competency Hearing for Woman Charged in Her Kids’ DeathsATHENS – A Henderson County woman accused of killing her two children last year, will be getting a competency hearing. At a Friday hearing for Sarah Nicole Henderson, 30, of Mabank, a judge granted the request. A meeting was set for Monday to work out the details. The next hearing is scheduled for later this year. Henderson is said to have shot her children at their home.

Last November, Henderson County deputies received a call for assistance regarding a possible suicidal female at a residence outside of Payne Springs. Although EMS cancelled the call for assistance, deputies arrived at the residence seven minutes later, around 11:45 p.m. Sheriff Botie Hillhouse says a male and female told deputies they were fine and no one was in danger.

Early the next morning, around 2:25 a.m., the husband called 911 to report his wife had shot her children at the residence. Hillhouse said the children were pronounced dead at the scene. The children were identified as 7-year-old KayLee Danielle and 5-year-old Kenlie.
