TYLER – A former nurse at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital’s Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital in Tyler remains in jail on a murder charge. Arrested in the lobby of the Tyler Police Department Tuesday night was William George Davis, 34, of Hallsville. Davis is said to have entered a patient’s room and performed an “unskilled and/or unnecessary and/or inappropriate intervention.†His actions are said to have caused the patient to have a stroke which led to their death. Davis was jailed under a $2 million bond.
At a Wednesday afternoon news conference, Police Chief Jimmy Toler discussed the investigation that led to Davis’ arrest. Chief Toler said the investigation of Davis began when they were approached by the hospital in January. He said 1,700 hours were spent on the investigation. Davis’ license was suspended last month by the Texas Board of Nursing. He had been fired by the hospital in February. Chief Toler said Davis is being investigated in six other cases in which patients were injured. He likely will be charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault.
