Teen’s Body Pulled from Lake Following Rescue Attempt

HENDERSON — Henderson officials have pulled the body of 17-year-old Carlisle High School student Jonathan Cano from a lake after he reportedly tried to help a person in distress. According to KETK, police say the teen died at Lake Forest Park on Highway 64 near the Henderson Police Department. Police say they were called around 7:10 Thursday evening to the park’s gazebo after reports of a possible drowning. The body was recovered around 8:40 p.m. Authorities say two fishermen were able to save the other person. The Carlisle ISD is offering its condolences. School officials added that counselors would be available beginning Friday and in coming days to students and staff who need to deal with their grief.
