Posted/updated on: March 26, 2018 at 2:29 pmHALLSVILLE — A student at Hallsville ISDâs fourth-and-fifth grade campus is facing criminal charges after the child threatened to âshoot upâ the school, according to Superintendent Jeff Collum. According to the Longview News-Journal, officials declined to identify the student because of his age. The student faces a charge of terroristic threat. Collum said Friday that the studentâs threat was overheard Thursday by another person.
âThe Hallsville ISD administration and police department are committed to doing everything possible to assure the safety of our students, faculty and staff, therefore all reported threats are assessed and acted upon decisively,â he said in a statement. âBecause we received the initial information from someone who heard the threat, we were able to intervene before any chance of danger existed. A complete investigation was conducted by the campus principal and Hallsville ISD police officers.
The student remains enrolled in Hallsville ISD, officials said.
