Fatal Gregg County Fire Under Investigation

LONGVIEW – Gregg County authorities continue to sort through the evidence in a structure and grass fire that left one person dead. It was reported shortly after 4:15 Friday afternoon on Maxey Road north of Longview. Investigators are trying to determine which started first, the grass fire or the structure fire. Gregg County sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Josh Tubb told the Longview News Journal they not releasing the identification of the person killed in the fire until the person’s next of kin have been notified.
