Suspect Jailed following High Speed Chase

ANGELINA COUNTY — A 35-year-old man wanted on outstanding warrants has been arrested following a high speed chase. It happened around 7:30 Tuesday night in Lufkin. An officer was attempting to conduct a traffic stop on Abel Lopez when the pursuit started. Lopez headed northbound on Loop 287 and was spiked by Constable Tom Selman. He continued on, eventually bailing out of the vehicle and was arrested a short time later. Officers said he threw items from the vehicle during the pursuit that they are attempting to retrieve.
