Former Wood County Sheriff Arrested

QUITMAN — Former Wood County Sheriff James Brown was arrested Wednesday. According to KETK, he has been charged with two counts of official oppression and one count of official abuse of official capacity. Last month, a federal lawsuit was filed on behalf of eight people against Brown and others in the department. It alleges one of the plaintiffs had a gun pointed at his head and the other had a serious injury. The plaintiffs are seeking actual punitive damages.
