Credit Card Skimmer Turns Up in Smith County

CHAPEL HILL – Detectives with the Smith County Sheriff’s Department have found a credit card skimmer. It was found Wednesday on a pump at a station on Highway 64 East in the Chapel Hill area. The device captures credit card information which is used by the thieves to make fraudulent purchases. Detectives believe that this is part of a large criminal operation targeting a large area.
