TYLER — The United Way of Smith County is looking to increase the number of donors by 10% over last year as it begins its 2017-2018 campaign. The agency heard words of encouragement from former Dallas Cowboy Darryl “Moose” Johnston as it held its campaign kickoff Thursday. Staffers point out that no single nonprofit agency is able to address all of the needs in the county, so the United Way works to bridge those gaps. They add that every dollar given stays in the community. The campaign theme this year is “Join the Fight.” You can go to http://www.unitedwaysmithcounty.org to learn more.
