One Killed and One Injured in East Texas Train IncidentJACKSONVILLE – One of two persons who hopped aboard a train in San Marcos, has been killed in Cherokee County. A Hispanic male was killed when he either jumped or fell from a Union Pacific freight train. The man’s body was found Tuesday morning on the railroad tracks just under a mile west of Jacksonville. A woman suffered a broken leg when she jumped from the train in the Troup area. The train, which had originated in Laredo, was carrying autos to Chicago. The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation of the death.
