Man Holds Suspected Intruder at Gunpoint

TYLER — A suspected intruder is in custody after a Smith County homeowner held him at gunpoint near FM 2767. KETK reports that according to the sheriff’s office, Robert Fitch managed to keep the suspect at bay until officials could arrive on scene. Fitch was not injured. The suspect was booked into the Smith County Jail on a charge of burglary of a habitation. He has been identified as Paul Brent Hopkins, 38, of Tyler. His bond was set at $20,000.
